What callbacks cost you
A callback is a second trip you can't bill, and it takes a slot a paying customer could have had. Put in your numbers to see what that adds up to in a year.
Out of pocket each year
$15,336
Plus about $24,300 of paying work pushed off the board.
- Callbacks a month
- 9
- Cost of each callback
- $142
- Tech hours lost a year
- 162
How the math works
Callbacks a month are jobs times your callback rate. Each one costs the hours to go back (drive time included) at your cost per billable hour, plus any parts you eat.
Some callbacks push a paying job off the board. That revenue is counted separately, because you may win some of it back later in the week.
Use the callback or recall rate from your own reports. We couldn't find a published industry benchmark with a stated method, so the 3% default is only a starting point.
Where the defaults come from
Defaults are national starting points. Your own numbers will always beat them.
